Mrs. Purkey has introduced the Galena High School Artist Spotlight of this week! As a reminder, a new student will be chosen by random for an opportunity to showcase their art each week. The student will be selected by getting their name drawn if they decide they would like a chance to be selected for the Artist Spotlight. 

This week’s artist we are honoring is Gabe Stephens! Gabe used his observation skills to draw this still life from a display of shoes, which was our focus of study. The assignment was to draw from the angle you were sitting at, and portraying correct shapes and shadows within the piece. Gabe accomplished this perfectly with his drawing. He used oil pastels skillfully and persistently to present a well blended still life drawing. Keep up the great work, Gabe!

If you would like a chance to be chosen for the Artist Spotlight, you can ask Mrs. Purkey to enter your name into the drawing. As Artist Spotlight continues throughout this year, there will be more artwork to showcase! Artist Spotlight has and will continue to encourage the art students to showcase their hard work, and expand their creativity. Galena High School will look forward to what other amazing artwork will be featured in the following weeks to come!
