Mrs. Purkey has introduced the Galena High School Artist Spotlight of this week! As a reminder, a new student will be chosen by random for an opportunity to showcase their art each week. The student will be selected by getting their name drawn if they decide they would like a chance to be selected for the Artist Spotlight.

This week’s artist we are honoring is Abigail Bressie! Abigail is a Senior this year and has created many wonderful works in her time in the art room. Abigail has a great vision for her art projects and especially for painting projects. Abigail has done many works that are worthy of attention, but the one that we are looking at this week was a mixed media project on canvas that Galena Highschool did at the beginning of the school year. The assignment was to paint using natural substances and using techniques that would cause the viewer to feel the characteristics of nature. Abigail captured the texture, and the essence of the ocean in her painting beautifully. The viewer truly feels invited to experience the touch of the ocean. Keep up the great work, Abigail! Purkey stated she was very proud of her and her artistic abilities! You have a bright future ahead of you!

If you would like a chance to be chosen for the Artist Spotlight, you can ask Mrs. Purkey to enter your name into the drawing. As Artist Spotlight continues throughout this year, there will be more artwork to showcase! Artist Spotlight has and will continue to encourage the art students to showcase their hard work, and expand their creativity. Galena High School will look forward to what other amazing artwork will be featured in the following weeks to come!
