Galena High School

Veterans' Day Assembly

Posted Date: 11/12/25 (4:21 PM)

Galena High School was honored to welcome several dozen local Veterans and their families for a special breakfast and assembly held yesterday in recognition of their service to our nation. We extend our sincere appreciation to Linda Gregory, Tara Batson, and Bonnie McGownd for preparing a wonderful breakfast, which was proudly served by members of the Galena High School Student Council under the leadership of Dr. Matt Carr.

Following the breakfast, our Veterans and the entire GHS student body participated in a meaningful assembly organized by our FFA chapter, led by Ms. Kacy Bone. FFA officers reflected on the importance of service and provided a powerful demonstration that explained the symbolism behind the folding of the American flag.

We were also privileged to welcome Missouri State Representative Burt Whaley, who, as a Veteran himself, shared an inspiring message about his journey of service with our students and guests.

It was a truly memorable day of gratitude and reflection, and we could not be more proud of the way our Galena High School community came together to honor those who have sacrificed for our freedom.
